Oh how I love this stuff!!!

There is a diamond in the rough in Lathrop, CA that has the GREATEST SUSHI ON EARTH!!! I'm not joking. It is amazing!!! Everyone I have taken there (that likes sushi of course) tells me so. It is the Mikasa Japanese Bistro.

This is my favorite roll at the moment. The DCS Roll:
The problem is it is way to close to my work.... I can go there for my lunch. A reason I have gained 11 pounds in the last 4 months?? hmmmm. The next time I go with friends I will take pictures of the other rolls. Of course you won't understand with just pictures... so let me know when you want to go and we are so there!! Lunch or dinner!! (just not on a Monday as they are closed)

Thanksgiving 2008

(I'm about a month behind here... I know.)
Thanksgiving 2008 was pretty low key this year. Which was very nice. Mom and I made the food. As usual it was an amazing spread. :o) Here I am making the dessert. See that pile of chocolate?? It's for the chocolate soup. YUM!!!! It is the favorite dessert of the girls in our family. Maybe one day I'll post the recipe.

Mostly everyone just kicked back in the living room. The kids colored and played. The adults visited. My grandparents where here from Livermore and my Uncle Terry was here for Georgia.
We normally take a picture at the dinner table all looking at the camera... but we didn't this year. This is as good as it gets. Ha!
After dinner Denae showed up and stayed for a few hours. We all visited and she helped the kids color.
It was a great day!! Filled with family, friends, love and memories. The best kind of day!!

My Kryptonite

So back in November I catered with Courtney's family... for something. Some sort of church Christmas party I think. Anyways, I LOVE catering with the Montagues. Not just because of the food, I know that is what you were all thinking, but because they are so fun to work with!! Always laid back, laughing, getting the job done and having fun while doing it. But I regress.... back to the food. My absolute FAVORITE thing that the Montagues serve is the garlic bread. Oh good Lord it is good!!!
And I will tell you why:
- the bread it grilled over the wood burning grill
- the butter has been melted over it as well, and has been infused with the smokey flavor
- LOTS of butter.... REAL butter
- LOTS of garlic
After the bread is grilled and the butter and garlic is melted they put it in a pan:
cut the bread in half and literally shove it into the butter. Like practically dunk the whole piece. The bread comes out soaking in the garlic butter and it drips down your chin when you bite into it... oh my... oh my.... I'm salivating just thinking about it.
I could talk about this for a long time... but it's making me hungry. So I must move on now.

History 102 on 9/22/08

On Monday nights from 6:30pm to 9:30pm I am taking a History class at MJC.
Tonight in class I learned:

- The girl that is both my Economy Class and History class has the last name of Fiscalini and she can (and did) bring me fresh cheese curds(1). I LOVE CHEESE CURDS = I LOVE ELAINE FISCALINI.

(They taste better than they look)

- The guy with the flaming florescent green shirt is named Shane and he has a pogo account and a very sensitive boyfriend that wants one of them to be inseminated and carry their future children....

- I have not totally lost the ability to learn as I got 10/10 correct on our first quiz. Woot woot!!

- I have a lot of studying (3) to do to be ready for the first tri-term (2) next Monday.

- My extra credit paper (if you haven't read that already and REALLY want to know about it... leave me a message. I'll email it to you. HA!!!) and my research topic (oh I picked a good one!!!!) are due on Monday as well.

- Eating too many cheese curds in one sitting will give me a tummy ache.

It was a good class. Mr. McCoy is a really good teacher. Why am I still typing... I need to go study now...

(1.) The Fiscalinis own the Fiscalini Cheese Company in Modesto.

(2.) Tri-term is a word I came up with to more accurately describe the three 'mid-terms' the school requires of us in semester. To me, mid = in the middle and term = period of time i.e. the semester. If there are three mid-terms in a semester, that does not fit into my understanding of the word. So I changed the word to tri-term. And now it makes perfect sense to me.

(3.) The list of 'identifications' I have to know and write in class essays on for the first tri-term Monday:
- Homestead Act
- Andrew Carnegie
- Heratio Alger
- Frederick Jackson Turner
- Alfred Thayer Mahan
- Yellow Journalism
- Battleship Maine
- "New" Manifest Destiny
- Social Darwinism
- Rough Riders
- Carrie Nation
- Anti-Saloon League
